Name of Practitioners: George Muscat
Title of Exhibition: Forces
Title of work: Facebook
This art piece is
named as the Facebook it is made from ceramics. George Muscat used the Raku to
make these faces. All these faces were made between the year of 2011-2013 which
are wall hanging and the dimensions is 77x325cm.
My opinion
In this piece of art
work we can see a lot the formal element of the line and the texture also the
shape and the shades of the faces. We can see some real straight lines that
create an amazing texture on the faces. Also the shade of the face helps you
see more the smile or even the sad face.
It might be shown that  the  lines
creates the rough texture
but  in the other way  the
lines  won’t be felt when you are touching
the piece of art. The artist
created  all the types  of
faces such  as  faces
that  has  open eyes
and  also closed eyes. It
also  shows  us  as  I
said  before  the smiling parts and also  faces
that  are sad. The artist
also  in the  middle of all these  faces
he added  a  mirror so that the person who is  seeing the exhibition will  be able
to see the  identity  and
also the status  of  the
participant. He says these words “like the social network, all friends
have concerned to be liked by the artist through having their face replicated”.
About raku
Raku is a type of clay
that is created  from  a specific ceramic  firing method which the  process
is  that  you use both the fire and the smoke and  that is
how the cracks come. The piece is bisque fire and then it is glazed and
undergoes a raku firing process.
As we are talking
about the raku it has a special kilin for itself that reaches the temperature
of about 1,800˚F that it is about 982˚C.
the pottery must  remain in
the  kilin  for
about  30 minutes it  is
the  order  of
the  firing  process. By
using  the  tool
that  is  called the
raku tongs  you will put  the
piece  while it is hot and  glowing inside a  metal can
full of  combustible materials.            The heat will be  emit
from the pottery and  because  of  the  materials
that  we find  inside
the  can  it
will  catch  fire.
After the
materials  cause  the
firing a  lid  will
be  added  onto the can and the pottery is  still
being  inside the can.  That is how the raku ceramic will have that
type of texture and the cracks which the process is called post fire reduction.
Torso
This  is
also  an art piece  that is made out from  ceramics
which George Muscat exhibited
during the exhibition . This is another art piece that inspired me
during the visit of the exhibition called Forces.
Name of Practitioners: George Muscat
Title of exhibition: Forces
Title of work: Torso
This ceramic art piece
that it is named as Torso is made out of the paper clay and pit Fired
Earthenware. It is made during the year of 2012 and it is a wall hanging. The
measurement of this art piece is 89x40cm.
My opinion
I  choose this
art piece because  it had  some
interesting  features  such
as that  the  hand
of  this  art piece
is  separately  but still
attached  to  the body . It also inspired me how he made
sort of shelves and added the vases into the body. We also can see how the
artist made the colours and developed an interesting texture. As formal elements
we can see that there are lines that are curved and also straight lines. Also
we can see some rough texture around the hand of the body.
We also  can
see  the close  up of the
part that  inspired  me
where  there is  2 vases.
Freedom
This  is
also  an art piece  that is made out from  ceramics
which George Muscat exhibited
during the exhibition . This is another art piece that inspired me
during the visit of the exhibition called Forces.

Title of work: Freedom
This art piece is
named as Freedom and it is made by ceramics where the artist George Muscat used
the technique of melted glass and also used the stoneware. This art piece is
made during the year of 2012. It is designed to be a wall hanging and the
measurements of this piece of art work are 76x136cm.
My
opinion
I choose  to talk
about this  art  piece
because  it  has been used a different  technique
on this  wall hanging piece
because  the artist  used
the  glass in this  art
piece where when you fire
the  object  the
glass melts  and  give
us this  interesting texture and
interesting feeling. The artist also used a different type of clay that is
stoneware clay and he made an abstract shape. We also can see the formal  elements
in this  piece of art such  as the texture  as
I  said  before we can see  that it
is  rough but when  you touch it feels soft and also it  has
the  health  and safety because  it
won’t  be  sharp because
the glass  is melted. We also can
see that the texture at the edge inside looks rough. We also  can see the colours  that  the
artist  added  on the
piece called  freedom where we
can  see that  he
matched the  colours  to the  colour  of the glass.
Migration
Name of Practitioners: George Muscat
Title of exhibition: Forces
Title of work: Migration
I  choose
this  art piece  that is
made  with ceramics has  also
been done  with a different
technique where I think that  the artist  to
make  the  fish
used  the  technique
of the  mold. He also used the
stoneware and this art piece is done during the year of 2012. The purpose of this
art piece is to be a wall hanging and the measurements are 52x65cm.
My
opinion
I choose to
talk  about  this
art  piece  because
it  also  has  a
different technique  from  the
other pieces that the artist made. I think that the artist used the
technique of the mold where he made the form of the fish with the mold. As the
formal elements  we can see a  lot
the  texture  on the fish where it  look that it
is rough where also the background
looks rough. apart the
interesting texture  that  we can see
on the background  we also  can see the  colour that  it is  also interesting where we also can see  that it has more than one  colour.
Galaxy
Name of Practitioners: George Muscat
Title of exhibition: Forces
Title of work: Galaxy
The art  piece
that  is  made
by  ceramics is  named
as  Galaxy  which the artist  used a different type  of clay that is Earthenware Terracotta clay.
This art  piece  is also made
in the year of 2012 and  it is
also  a
wall hanging  the diameter  of this art piece  is 52cm.
My
opinion
As  from the other  pieces
this  one has  a different
shape which as we can see it  has
the shape  of a circle but it has
some  of the edges  that are squashed so it  gives
it a  unique circle shape. I also
think that the artist used the slip technique where we can see the green. As a
texture we can see that where there is the green part  it will be
felt  as a rough texture  but
the  other  parts
looks  smooth. We can see that how
the color is made it also gives you the impression that it is rough but that it
is made with the colour  The colour the artist used matches a lot and made the
art piece looks more interesting.
