John Ruskin
John Ruskin was born in the 8th February 1819 in London, England and he died on the 20th January 1900 in Coniston, Lancashire. John Ruskin was an English critic of art, architecture, and society who was a gifted painter a distinctive prose stylist and also an important example of the Victorian stage. He is the only child. He was educated by his parents till the age of fourteen. His mother was a devote Christian so every morning she made Ruskin to read the bible from the age of three years where he had to learn the passages  of the bible  by heart.
According to Robert Hewison his mother was the person who gave him confidence.  The conflict between his father's expressive desire and his mother's cautious restraint was to undermine his apparent confidence throughout his life. much of the art that he was to study was in conflict with the sensual appeal which kept him from the enjoyment of his body, in Praeterita (1885) Ruskin gives an unfinished account of his childhood however most historians consider it untrustworthy, he was joined by his cousin Mary Richardson in 1828 who came from Perth after his mother died.
